Happy Mother’s Day!

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day!  In my home, it’s a job that’s 24 x 7 x 365.  Proverbs 31:10-31 is the Biblical passage that comes to mind this morning that describes the 3 most influential mothers in my life, and verses 28 and 29 hit it on the head:

“Her children arise and call her blessed; …
Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”

First, I want to say Happy Mom’s Day to my mother, Jackie.  She and my father decided to adopt a son six years after having two kids of their own.  She gave me everything I needed to be successful.  I sometimes didn’t understand the way she pushed me to excel at everything I did.  She demonstrates Proverbs 31:17: “She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.”  Now, I look back and just say thanks.

Second, I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to my mother-in-law, Nancy.  She has been a true inspiration in perseverance and character to me.  I can say that I have seen someone live out Paul’s words in Romans 5:3-4:  “[W]e also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”  Thanks for being the best mother-in-law a man could ask for!

Finally, I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to my wife, Amy.  You are a great Mom and wife.  You keep our house running on all 8 cylinders.  You have instilled a sense of confidence and humility into our kids that will one day soon produce well-adjusted adults.  I thank the Lord everyday that He brought you into my life 20 years ago.  As Proverbs 31:10 puts it, you are “worth far more than rubies” to me.  Thanks for all you do for our family and all you mean to me!

I love each one of you in a special way.  Thanks again for your influence on my life!

Ed…awww. As if I haven’t been emotional enough enjoying my own first Mother’s Day yesterday. This is really touching, a beautiful testimony to the three important Mom’s in your life. I knew you were a good egg! : )
